Kuiyao uses ceramics to record the relationship between people, the ocean, the body and time. Every work is made in the studio and available for private collections, interiors and public art projects.
From tides and deep-sea life to the traces people leave behind, the series considers the fragility of marine ecosystems in a changing climate. Glaze, cracks and hand marks form a sea that remains unstable and unfinished.
Kuiyao is an independent ceramic practice by artist Molly. Working with clay, glaze and found materials, she makes works that move between sculpture and vessel. The aim is not surface perfection, but to let firing, contraction, flow and scars remain visible. The Ocean Series extends this language toward ecological fragility and climate change. It does not speak for nature; it asks viewers to reconsider the relationship between human life and the sea.
“We are not copying the ocean. We are looking for the tide a work can hold.”

From slabs and shaping to glazing and firing, each work is guided by a series of hands-on decisions. The studio remains attentive to the material, energy and traces involved in making, allowing clay and fire to remain visible rather than claiming to reproduce nature. Based in China, the studio works with collectors, galleries, architects and hospitality projects worldwide, with international shipping available.
Learn about collectingA work does not exist only after it is finished. Clay, glaze, the worktable and the wait before firing are all part of the Kuiyao practice.

Handmade decisions settle into form, glaze and traces of fire, creating an object made to be looked at over time.
